4. To reach the front desk specifically, find your hotel’s switchboard number online or on a pamphlet in your room and dial it directly.

5. Once you’ve reached either the operator or voicemail, state your request clearly. For example, “I’d like to be connected to room 123” or “I need extra towels sent up to my room.”

6. Hang up when finished speaking.
